How to add and use Dangerous Goods

Set Up Your DG Emergency Contact

An emergency contact is mandatory if your account ships any dangerous or hazardous goods. This applies to the whole account.

  1. Navigate to Settings → Profile Settings

  2. Add a Signature and Save

  3. Navigate to SettingsDG Settings

  4. Enter the Emergency Contact details:

    • Name – the person to be contacted in relation to DG

    • Contact Number – phone number of contact who must be available anytime over the 24-hour period to be contact for DG related issues

  5. Click Save


Configure Your Dangerous Goods Items

This creates a reusable list of DG items for all users under your account.

  1. In SettingsDG Settings, go to Configure Dangerous Goods

  2. Click Create DG Item

  3. Fill in the following fields:

Field

Description

Common Name

The common/everyday name of the DG item

Proper Shipping Name

The standard technical name describing the hazard properties and composition

UN Number

The four-digit UN identifier for the hazardous material. UN number must be exactly 4 digits and must be between 0001 and 3600

Hazard Class

The DG class (1–9) according to the type of danger

Packaging Group

The packing group (I = high danger, II = medium, III = low)

Subsidiary Risk

Secondary hazard class if the item presents more than one hazard

Hazchem Code

The emergency action code (number 1–4 + letter P/R/S/T/W/X/Y/Z, optionally followed by E)

Flash Point (°C)

The lowest temperature at which the chemical can vaporise to form an ignitable mixture

Short Code

Internal/API reference code

Marine Pollutant

Whether the item is a marine pollutant

Packaging Instructions

Any further packaging instructions

Additional Information

Any other relevant details

Click Create DG Item to save

Tip 💡

You can also Update or Delete existing DG items from this screen at any time.


How to Select DG During Shipment Creation

Once your DG items are configured in settings, you can apply them when creating a shipment:

  1. Navigate to Shipments → click Create Shipment

  2. Fill in your Sender & Receiver details as normal

  3. In the Items section, add your item details (type, quantity, weight, dimensions)

  4. Click the Add DG Icon (right most icon in the item section) to add DG item details in that item

  5. Enter DG item (SKU/reference, quantity, weight)

    • Reference or SKU Name – required as the description / more info on the DG item

      • Note: SKU/Reference is a free field for your own reference and does not appear on DG paperwork.

    • Quantity – quantity of DG items

    • Weight – declared in Kilograms

    • Packaging Type – select from: Cage, Carton, Pallet, Skid, etc.

    • DG Type – select from your list of DG Items

  6. Complete the rest of your shipment and select your supplier/service

  7. Create the shipment as normal

  8. Your DG paperwork will be printed. They are also available in the shipment tray under the paperwork tab.

Note 📝
If a DG item's quantity is greater than 1, the system should automatically split it into individual line items (each with qty of 1) with DG contents expanded for each item.
DG item weight cannot be more than the weight of the Item
